Hp Laserjet 1000 Printer Driver For Mac Os X

The following comments are owned by whoever posted them. This site is not responsible for what they say.

Agree. I had also trouble installing this foo2zjs thing. Won't work and i tried almost everything. Now i installed the new driver from the vendor and it works! (btw: I have a Minolta 2300 Desklaser). The only thing is, that black text comes out a little smooth / blurred (like on the screen), not sharp enough. is there a way to correct this?
thx for your help

At least on my laserjet, the text looks about right. If the quality isn't as good as when printing from Windows, after spending over a year struggling with the printer and debating whether to just chuck it and buy a new one, I'm not going to complain!

The website implies that the driver is a work in progress and will be improved. (And the source code published). I hope so and will keep checking the site ever quarter or so.

I've tried going to Zenographics website and downloading the drivers for the Laserjet 1000. The only thing that I was able to download was self extracting zip file with a bunch of windows files inside. I didn't see anything about the DMG file or the install package. Does anyone know where I would be able to get the driver for this printer, or download the correct 'example' file.
Thanks for any help

Just downloaded the driver. Proceed with downloading the .exe. You'll be asked to register and then you can choose from several files, one of which will be the Mac drivers.
Works great. Good directions.
Brian

I was also unable to download the driver (though the rest of the instructions do indeed seem clear and detailed). (When I try FireFox or Safari, I get the 'FrontPage Run-Time Component Page' message another poster has mentioned. When I try IE5, the right frame of the Zenographics pages are all blank.)
A little tip on the downloading process, or an email (to mac@revuluri.com) with the DMG file, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I successfuly downloaded and installed the Zenographics SDK driver and managed to print MS word documents from a machine with OS X 10.3.4 to a HP Laserjet 1000. When I try to print pdf documents from Adobe Acrobat 6.0.1, however, the printer does not respond. I see that the print center accesses the printer and then displays the messages:
Starting job
followed by:
No pages found!
And, after a few seconds the job line disappears without any other sign.
Any hints?

Does anyone have the Zenographics driver? The site isn't working.

The adobe programs don't utilize the official OS X method of printing. The official way is to send PDF files, which the driver is able to translate. The adobe programs (and some carbon programs) send postscript, which the Zeno driver can't handle.
Someone smarter than me can probably create a PPD driver that translates the postscript through EPS Ghostrscript and then goes through the Zeno driver. But I'm at a loss.

help! i can't even download the driver. i've used different browers and even tried it on a PC, but whenver I submit the form with my info, it says something about me not having FrontPage extensions.
if someone could email the file to me at joltboy_x2@hotmail.com, it would be really appreciated!

I think Zeno's website is down.
I'm going to set up my own site w/the driver available for download. This violates Zeno's license (they want you to register to download), but if they won't fix their site, then bugger them.
I'll publish the site as soon as possible. Looks like that free DSL webspace may finally come in handy.

It's quick and dirty, but you can download the driver and the instructions from it. it's at here.

Great hint.
I have, too spent many hours trying to use fooz's driver without result.
Now, does anybody know if this printer will work with AirTunes Express? I have mine pre-ordered and will arrive next week.

I have installed the Zenographic's driver and I had the printer working for a few days. Suddenly it just stoped responding. To bring it back to life I had to do a complete uninstall of the driver, verify and repair the permissions and then reinstall the driver to get it to start working again.
A few days have passed, and it has once again given up.
Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone have any suggestions for me on this issue?
Thanks,
-Kyle

For those of you who struggled with the HP Laserjet 1000, here is what worked for me. It was a combination of what I've seen on this site (THANK YOU) and also a few others.
(OSX Panther)
1) System Preferences
2) Print & Fax
3) Set Up Printers..
4) 'Hold' Option and click 'Add Printer'
5) Scroll to Advanced
6) Device: Scroll down to 'Windows Printer via SAMBA'
7) Device Name (you choose)
8) Device URL smb://user:pass@WORKGROUP/computername/printername
9) Printer Model: ESP
10) Scroll down to Zenographics SDK Mono CUPS v1.1
11) Click Add
Do a print test.
This worked for me on 12-7-2004
Good luck!

Hey, this worked great for me.
Now I'm trying to print on my HP LaserJet 1000 via Airport Express.
When I go through 'rendezvous', it identifies the printer, but says 'Printer driver not installed'
Anybody know how to Print using Airport Express?

I used the download as susgested and followed the instructions and it works with our HP 1000..MANY THANKS TO ALL in this link.. we are new to Apple but now have 2 power books and dont regret last week giving away the PC, I dont get off on tinkering with PC's , Id rather go fishing than being a psuedo IT manager.
Thanks to sites like this, the few isues with MAC are minor, due to people like you. (but I still think you should spend more time fishing :-) )
PS the one PDF file I tried to print was OK but maybe it beacuse it been revised as I dowloaded in April 05.

I just wanted to give a bit of an update to this hint and also share how I was able to remotely print from my mac to a Laserjet 1020 hooked up to an XP box.
First, for 10.4, instead of holding the alt-key and hitting add to get to the 'Advanced' menu, hit the add button, then from the next dialog box, hold down alt and click on 'More printers..'. 'Advanced' should now be available from the drop down menu. Other than that, the instructions in the parent post, or on the following page (I used the should LaserJet 1000 instructions) be sufficient:
http://oem.zeno.com/public/?SDK/4_Macintosh%20CUPS%20Driver/Default.htm
This is also where the mac driver you need is located at, I used the monochrom driver for my 1020. Be very sure to follow the directions exactly, especially regarding reboots, or things may not work.
If you want to hook up the printer to an XP box, and then be able to share the printer to a 10.4 machine:
-- first follow the directions for installing the printer drivers on the 10.4 machine (in my experience you must hook up the printer to the 10.4 machine while installing the driver).
--Then use the CD included with the printer and follow the printers directions for installing the printer on the XP machine.
--Set up sharing for this printer on the XP machine (The XP wizards should get you through this pretty well)
--Open the printer setup utility on the mac
--Click add
--Click more printers..
--Select 'Windows Printing' -- you should now be able to select the proper work group and printer.
--For printer model select the Zenographics CUPS driver. This is found under 'EPS', not 'HP'
You should now be able to print to the shared printer from your mac. Note that not all applications are going to be able to print succesfully to the shared printer like this. Most should, but some like Adobe Acrobat Reader will not succesfully print.. I am unsure of all the technical reasons for this, but I believe it has to do with how the application submitts a print job.
I did this succesfully using 10.4.4 and an XP machine that was up to date as of Jan 28, 2006. I used a LaserJet 1020. You should be aware that neither Zenographics or HP seem to endorse or support using the zenographics driver with the 1020, so do so at your own risk.

Thank you very much! I have been trying to install my HP Laserjet 1000 to my PPC and my iBook for months now. When I first came across the thread, I thought it would still not work because they were running 10.3. Then I came acroos your post.
I also tried the HPJIS process but it took me half a day without any success. Then this post came along!
I am very grateful and I will pass on this information to all my friends. Thanks again!

I just install the driver and it works perfectly, Thanks A LOT!!! I can even print B&W photos very nice from iphoto. I am using MAC OS 10.4.5. Just follow the instructions carefully and it will work flawlessly.

Hi all i Have a Laserjet 1000 however I can not get the driver mentioned. Can some please e-mail me it or point me to another download location. Your help is greatly appreciated. balgill@gmail.com

Hi, I have the same printer as you - the hp laserjet 1020 - hooked up to a Dell running Windows XP. I bought an iMac intel and when it first came I could print without a hitch. However along the way, I dont remember tweaking any settings, the Mac could not print through the PC.
I tried troubleshooting. Initially the message was the NT_Status_Acess_Denied or other NT failure messages. I enabled UNIX printing on the Dell, changed the Username and Password (Initially there when everything was working there was not even this prompt) and now the document I want to print on the Mac appears in the print queue on the PC. However it does not get printed. The status of the docment on the PC says 'Printing' but it isnt.
I tried lots of things including the steps you recommended afer reseting the printer setup utility followed by installing the HP Laserjet driver on the Mac and then trigger sharing on the PC but to no avail. Really need some advice here please.
Jeremy

The driver isn't gone, just moved. You can still get it from:
http://oem.zeno.com/SDK/?6_Macintosh%20CUPS%20Driver/Default.htm
As of today, Zenographics no longer provides this driver on their site (and a phone call to them confirmed that it's not there and they don't know if/when it will be again).
I have found it, however, at another site: http://www.shoutnet.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=16&Itemid=2
Or, the direct link to the driver itself: http://www.shoutnet.net/images/stories/SDKMono.dmg

Shoutnet's lease on the domain name ran out 6 days ago. Does anyone have a new link to the Zenographics driver?
Thanks in advance!

I tried to go to the site but it is not there anymore. Is there another site available? I am getting annoyed with hp and Apple for not providing drivers for a basic laserjet printer.
